How to Choose Wall Décor

Wall décor transforms empty surfaces into design statements. The right piece — or grouping — can define a room’s character as powerfully as any furniture selection.

1. Size It to the Wall

A mirror or art piece above a console should span 50–75% of the furniture width below it. On a bare wall, the piece should occupy roughly two-thirds of the available width. Oversized mirrors (48 inches+) work beautifully in entryways and dining rooms; smaller pieces (18–24 inches) are ideal for grouping.

2. Create Intentional Groupings

When hanging multiple pieces, maintain 2–3 inches between frames. Align either the top edges or center line for a cohesive look. Odd numbers (3 or 5) create natural balance. For a salon-style wall, mix sizes but unify with a consistent frame finish.

3. Match Material to the Room

Mirrors with metal frames complement contemporary and hospitality settings. Wood frames bring warmth to residential spaces. Decorative panels in ceramic or plaster add texture to minimalist interiors. For bathrooms and humid environments, specify moisture-resistant materials.

4. Use Mirrors Strategically

A well-placed mirror doubles perceived space and reflects natural light. Position opposite a window to maximize brightness. In corridors, a large mirror at the end creates depth. In dining rooms, a mirror above a sideboard adds grandeur and reflects candlelight.
