How to Choose a Room Divider or Screen

Room dividers balance privacy, light transmission, and visual presence.

1. Define the Purpose

For visual separation without privacy, choose open-weave or perforated designs. For full privacy, select solid-panel or tightly woven screens. For acoustic dampening, consider double-layer or fabric-backed panels.

2. Measure the Space

Standard screen height is 160-180 cm for effective visual separation. Width should cover at least 60% of the opening. Freestanding screens need 10-15 cm of floor clearance on each side for stability.

3. Choose the Material

Natural rattan and cane offer warmth and organic texture. Metal screens provide industrial or contemporary aesthetics. Laser-cut wood panels combine pattern with natural material. Brass screens add luxury and develop patina over time.

4. Stability and Safety

Freestanding screens should have a weighted base or interlocking feet. For households with children or pets, choose screens that can be anchored to the floor. NUMBO screens include adjustable leveling feet for uneven surfaces.

Yes. Our screens are used in hotels, restaurants, and offices worldwide. Commercial-grade versions feature reinforced frames and fire-retardant treatments. We can provide fire rating certificates for commercial projects through our Custom Program.

What is the maximum height available?

Standard screens range from 150-180 cm. Custom screens can reach up to 240 cm for full-height partitions. Taller screens include additional bracing and may require ceiling-mounted support brackets for stability.

Do screens require assembly?

Most of our freestanding screens arrive fully assembled or with minimal setup (attaching feet or connecting panels). Multi-panel folding screens unfold without tools. Wall-mounted dividers require bracket installation with included hardware.
