Where the Work Happens

Our factory is not a separate entity from our design studio — they share the same roof, the same team, and the same standards. Everything NUMBO designs is made within our 4,500 m² facility in Zhongshan, China, a region with generations of furniture and lighting manufacturing expertise.

We keep 75–90% of production in-house. From metal forging and woodworking to surface finishing and final assembly, each stage is handled by specialists who understand both the craft and the design intent behind every piece. The few processes we outsource are done so deliberately, to partners we have worked with for years and whose quality we have verified firsthand.

This integrated model is what allows us to move from concept to finished product without losing fidelity. A sketch drawn in the morning can be prototyped by the afternoon. A designer's feedback on a sample can be incorporated into production the same week. The distance between idea and execution is measured in steps, not shipping containers.

What We Make In-House

Lighting Production

Our lighting workshop handles the full lifecycle of every fixture: brass and steel forging, welding, surface treatment (brushed, polished, patina, powder-coated), glass and shade assembly, and electrical fitting. Each piece is wired to the destination market's safety standard before leaving the factory floor.

Furniture & Woodwork

Solid wood processing, joinery, CNC routing, sanding, and finishing all happen on-site. Our woodworking team works with oak, walnut, ash, and teak, selecting grain direction and board matching for each piece. Traditional mortise-and-tenon joints sit alongside modern CNC precision, depending on what the design calls for.

Metalwork & Finishing

From laser-cut steel frames to hand-hammered brass details, our metal shop covers cutting, bending, forming, welding, and surface finishing. We run our own powder coating and patina lines, which gives us direct control over color consistency and durability across every batch.

Assembly & Packaging

Final assembly, quality inspection, and packaging happen in a dedicated clean area. Every product is checked against its specification sheet before wrapping. Packaging is customized per product type: furniture gets corner-protected crating, lighting gets foam-molded inserts, and decorative items get individual cushioning. Custom packaging for branded trade orders is available on request.

From Raw Material to Finished Product

01
Raw material sourcing and quality inspection at NUMBO factory

Material Sourcing & Inspection

Every project begins with material selection. We source brass, steel, solid wood, natural stone, and glass from trusted regional suppliers. Each batch is inspected on arrival: grain consistency, alloy composition, dimensional accuracy. Materials that don't meet our specification are returned before they enter production.

02
Metal component fabrication and precision machining in NUMBO workshop

Component Fabrication

Approved materials move to the fabrication floor. CNC machines handle precision cuts and repeatable components. Skilled craftspeople handle the work that machines cannot: hand-forging brass curves, shaping organic wood forms, welding structural joints. The combination of CNC precision and handcraft flexibility is what defines our output.

Product assembly and hand-applied surface finishing at NUMBO

Assembly & Finishing

Components come together in the assembly area. This is where frames meet shades, legs meet tabletops, and hardware meets structure. Surface finishing — whether it's a hand-rubbed patina, a powder-coated matte black, or a natural oil finish on solid wood — is applied before final assembly to ensure even coverage and adhesion.

04
Multi-point quality control inspection before custom packaging

Quality Check & Packaging

Every finished piece goes through a multi-point inspection: dimensions against the specification sheet, finish consistency under controlled lighting, structural load testing where applicable, and electrical safety verification for all lighting products. Once cleared, the product moves to custom packaging and is staged for shipment.

Equipment and Technology

Our facility combines traditional workshop tools with modern manufacturing equipment. This is the infrastructure that makes consistent quality possible at scale.

CNC Machining Centers

Multi-axis CNC routers and mills for precision cutting, drilling, and shaping of wood, metal, and composite materials. Used for components that require tight tolerances and repeatable accuracy across production runs.

Metal Forging & Welding Stations

Dedicated stations for MIG, TIG, and hand-forging work. Our metal shop handles everything from structural steel frames to decorative brass details, with separate areas for rough forming and fine finishing work.

Wood Drying & Treatment Kilns

Climate-controlled kilns bring lumber to optimal moisture content before processing. This prevents warping, cracking, and dimensional changes after the product leaves the factory.

Surface Finishing Booths

Enclosed spray booths for powder coating, wet paint, and patina application. Controlled environment ensures consistent color, texture, and adhesion. Separate ventilation and filtration systems for each finish type.

Testing Lab

In-house testing facility for load capacity, surface hardness, finish durability, and electrical safety. Products are tested against project specifications before approval for shipment. Testing records are kept for every production batch.

See It for Yourself

We welcome factory visits from designers and trade partners. Come see where your products are made, meet the team behind them, and discuss your project on the factory floor. If an in-person visit isn't possible, we're happy to arrange a video walkthrough.
